Hello,
My husband and I (although with our daughter who is currently 9 months old) are moving to Annecy France in August of 2010 for a year. My husband will be doing a year long surgical fellowship.
We would love to connect with any other expats in/around that area. Right now we are looking for information on how best to secure housing and arrange for a nanny for our daughter. Any information/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I moved to Annecy from Rochester NY in August. I have been back and forth to the states a few times so have never really felt settled. But after returning from the holidays I feel it is now time to get settled in!!

Great to hear from you! It would be fun to work together to learn about things. Is there a particular area(s) that you have found nice to live? And/or a particular way you used to find a home? Did you purchase a car once you were there? (I'm assuming you need a vehicle to get around?)
Sorry, I feel like I have a million little questions. Any little suggestions/thoughts are welcome. We are in contact with some friends that have lived in Annecy for a short time before so we will also keep you posted on answers we find.

Hi Laura,

Centre Ville is a nice place to live as long as you can handle a certain level of noise. You don't necessarily need a car to get around - we only have one car which I use to car-share with and to go skiing on the weekends. My wife can get buy quite easily without one. If you are only here for a year you may find a long-term car rental worthwhile.
Good luck in finding somewhere to live - maybe your husband's work might help you out (you will need all the help you can get!).

Thanks for the information! We will start looking in Centre Ville. Also great to know about not needing a car to function! We will take your advice and plan to maybe rent just one. Any recommendations on finding a nanny or day care?
