Well, hello France and the English-speaking Expats,

I am Tom, 67 years old and a refugee from 'Nanny' Britain.

My wife, Birgitta is Swedish and we originally wanted to emigrate to Australia where my daughter farms; we ran into horrendous visa problems, spent a lot of money and fled back to Europe to top up the pension pot.

I am a 'Business System Consultant' which means that I teach people how to use the whizz-bang software system they have just spent a fortune on, to run their business efficiently.

Birgitta is an International PA but the languages only run to Swedish, English and German. We both of us studied French at school but haven't used it for upwards of 45-50 years so it is extremely rusty. We are currently looking for somewhere in the Rambouillet area to do a swift brush-up before retiring, possibly to the South - there don't seem to be too many Expats in Yvelines (Ile de France).

We would both appreciate contact with anyone who is willing to help us adjust on a social basis.

That's all for now but I might think about starting a blog on day-to-day life as we experience it.

Bon chance.

Tom
